Franklin Real Estate

Franklin is located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire and includes the village of West Franklin.   It is situated at the junction of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesauke Rivers. It is 38 miles from Manchester and 88 miles from Boston.

Franklin is the birthplace of Daniel Webster.  The historic site of his childhood home is preserved in the town.

Franklin was settled in 1764 and was originally known as Pemigewasset.  It was then named Franklin in 1820, in honor of Benjamin Franklin.  It was incorporated as a town in 1828 and then as a city in 1895.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Franklin was home to 8,405 residents.  This included 3,319 households and 2,193 families.  The average family size was 2.95 and the average household size was 2.47.  Franklin is comprised of 27.6 square miles of land and 1.6 square miles of water.
